Leading CA-based, nationally distributed designer Barclay Butera with own retail/wholesale upholstery line, retail showrooms and new to-the-trade only line, debuts three chairs (Grant, Gramercy, Hudson) - among other offerings - at Spring's High Point Market in North Carolina (April 22-28). His casually elegant lifestyle approach focuses on designing "fashion for the home", and referencing the fashion world's approach.

LOS ANGELES, CA April 20, 2004--Designer Barclay Butera, ASID, brings to Springs High Point Market his latest vision of fashion for the home through his 100% customized Butera Home Furnishings (BHF) line, distributed in approximately 300 locations nationwide. Located at IHFC Interhall H106, Butera continues to evolve and grow his upholstery line, always adding a fresh take on the casually elegant lifestyle and high-end quality his clients have come to expect.

As a clothing designer observes a variety of cultures and historical styles, and tries to predict peoples new needs, so Barclay finds that he views design. He encourages his clients to keep and integrate their personal, classic, heritage piecesas with an ideal wardrobe. And, being drawn to fashion and tapping his own travels and experiences there is constant inspiration for his classic, lifestyle approach to interior design. He looks to the tailoring of mens suits and womens clothing; the banding; and combinations of fabrics, textures, patterns, and colors. Fall 2003 brought the pink Renee Loveseat, inspired by the fashions he saw in Paris and in the film Down With Love; Spring brings The Gramercy, The Grant and The Hudson chairs.

Spending time this year in Palm Springs, CA, he has felt transported to an era in which people dressed for cocktail parties they hosted in their sophisticated (but livable) homes, and were more light-hearted; for Barclay, this conjures scenes from Cary Grant and Bette Davis films, as well as specifically Auntie Mame and Breakfast at Tiffanys. These films and their fashion evoked a refined, tailored elegance, with an inescapable casual side.

- The Gramercy Chair: A simplified retro-modern silhouetted armless chair, presented in spice linen with tapered wooden legs. Its tufted loose back, along with the vibrant burnt orange color, evinces a chic 1960s feel. As with all BHF pieces, the Gramercy comes standard with the goose down and feather wrap seat with center fiber core, and solid goose down and feather back. (28x36x27)
- The Grant Wing Chair: Named for the debonair and sophisticated Cary Grant, this classically-lined, high wing back chair features antique style rolled arms and a fine tapered, dark wood bracket base. The Grant is displayed in rich-chocolate mohair that provides a comfortable, elegant and nostalgic aura, yet with nickel nailheads that give it a modern twist. (33x31x45)
- The Hudson Chair: Still traditional but hip, both masculine and feminine, the tailored Hudson is a high backed wing chair featuring flat-topped arms with a rolled front.
